Latest Pylon Signs Trends

Pylon signs are usually seen rising high above the buildings surrounding them. You’ll noticed them as you drive along a highway or by a mall. That’s because pylon signs are most commonly used to attract motorists from a great distance in high traffic areas. They are stand alone displays for any business.
The best way to see if a pylon sign is the right fit for your business is to examine your business is located. Are you in a bustling shopping center? On the edge of a freeway? Or maybe a top a hill overlooking the area? These are great places for a pylon sign since it creates visual recognition over a longer range.
We took a look at not only the pylons we’ve created, but also the ones we drive by in our everyday lives and noticed some trends that make each signage stand out. We’ve gathered these trends to show you how your pylon sign can do more than attract motorists—it will create a lasting impression for them to stop by over and over.

Illuminated Letters

With a pylon, your brand is already towering above the competition during the day, but what about at night? That’s where we’ve noticed a trend in LED Face Illuminated letters. LEDs make your sign visible no matter the time! They’re eye-catching and can be seen from even farther away than non-illuminated signs. This is especially valuable for businesses open late such as hotels or gas stations. Not only that, but LEDs have many benefits to save your business money because of how long they last and low maintenance costs. Tailor your pylon sign to your business as well as your location for optimal results in driving traffic.

Sideways Lettering

Probably one of the most interesting trends is having the font of the sign go vertically rather than horizontally. The first reason for having the text this way is the spacing to create a sleek look. Usually these signs have their text go from the bottom up so the eye moves towards the building the sign is promoting, rather than going down only to view the street. The second reason is vertical lettering is typically not read as quickly as horizontal, causing potential customers to stop and truly take in what your sign says, rather than simply glancing over it. Not only will a passersby take noticed of your unique signage, but they’ll stick around to absorb your brand’s meaning.

Dual Pillars

You may have seen many pylon signs put up on a very tall pole. That’s a more common foundation for a pylon. A trend we have noticed though, is pylon signs with dual pillars. It gives the look and feel of sturdiness and stability in addition to a more symmetrical look. The mirror image creates balance and can work well to showcase your business, especially in an elegant, artistic way.

Brick Base

The brick foundation is very reminiscent of a monument sign. If you can do it with a monument sign, why shouldn’t you be able to do so with a pylon? Brick looks robust and professional at the same time, and if your building is also brick and pairs with the pylon sign, it creates a cohesiveness that will only promote you brand and aesthetic more. You can even pair this trend with the previous one and have dual brick pillars. We have seen this one often when at bigger shopping centers as it lends itself to promoting multiple stores as well as the center as a whole.

LED Message Display

Attach an LED messaging center to your pylon sign to notify passerby of events, announcements and other messages you want to get out to the public. A messaging center can easily be added below your company name and logo, and has unlimited color capacity. Not to mention LED message displays have a low energy consumption, so your business can improve your signage immensely while only adding a few Rands a month to your electric bill. You’ll see this trend more and more in the coming years, due to the cost-effectiveness of LED signs and the benefits of being able to display a dynamic message.
Pylon signs are the best way to promote your brand and location from great distances and in heavier trafficked areas. With these trending styles, you’ll be able to brainstorm what is best for you and your business to have the best eye catching sign to showcase your company!
