The cost of one set of business signs consists of four parts:
  1. Design cost
  2. Production cost
  3. Delivery cost
  4. Installation cost
Design Cost
Usually the design cost of the signs is included in the design cost of the entire project, such as the design of a store, a building, an office lobby. Unless you need the 3D modeling of the custom signage, the signs diagram or need pay for intellectual property, you need not to pay for the design in one. If you only need us to use your fonts and content to help you typeset within a certain size range, it will be free.
Production cost
The production cost depend on the quantity ordered, type of signs, size, material, surface finish etc. For example, if you need to order 10 letters in “Arial” font, everyone is 254mm height, LED backlit signs. The production cost would be about R10. 000 to R30.000 mostly.
In general:
  • The production cost of outdoor signs is higher than indoor signs, since the outdoor need do some water-proof and weather-proof job.
  • The production cost of LED illuminated signs is higher than non-illuminated signs, since LED illuminated need LED and AC transformer.
  • The production cost of letters in serif font is higher than in sans-serif font, since the serif part need much more labour cost.
  • The production cost of complicated logo is higher than simple logo, since the more complicated the more labor cost.
  • The more process the more production cost. The production cost of gold plated fabricated brushed 304 stainless steel signs must higher than fabricated brushed 304 stainless steel signs.
  • The more labor the more production cost. The fabricated 304 stainless steel signs must higher than laser cutting 304 stainless steel signs.
  • The more advanced materials used the more production cost. The production cost of 316 stainless steel signs must higher than 304 stainless steel signs.
Delivery cost
The business signs will be calculated by the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Actual weight= actual weight of one outer box with goods inside, total is multiplied by the number of outer box shipped. Volumetric weight of a outer box = L(cm)*W(cm)*H(cm)/ 5000, get integral, use centimeter to calculate (e.g. 18.1KGS, get 19KGS). Total is multiplied by the numbers of outer box;
Secondly, per above calculation, sign companies can get the actual weight and the volumetric weight which is bigger. The bigger one will be the chargeable weight.
Also you might be asked to pay for the import duty by your local customers, it is charged by your local customers, you can contact with them to know the rules.
Installation cost
The installation charges range from R700.00 – R1500.00 per hour depending on location and complexity of the job.
And there you have it. Hopefully this will serve as a helpful guide for you when acquiring your custom business signage.
